Over at the Guardian, sommelier Samantha Payne provides a guide to lots of scary wine terms in under a minute, just the ticket to help keep one of our New Year’s Resolutions.

This week we have a plethora of fiction related news. Downton Abbey Wines have announced the launch of two new wines, a white and red, that are based on the character of Lady Cora. The LA Times has a few suggestions for how they can go on to extend the brand, pairing different wines to different characters and we are glad to see that they agree us that Lady Violet goes with gin.

Meanwhile Vanity Fair‘s review of Red Satin and White Silk, the two wines launched to tie-in with Fifty Shades of Grey, is filled with more bad BDSM puns than you can flick a whip at.

Lovers of animations Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away will have to temporarily content themselves with Studio Ghibli’s latest release: an advert for a shochu brand. Shochu is a Japanese distilled beverage made from barley, sweet potatoes, buckwheat or rice.
