According to Euromonitor analysts, increasing disposable incomes will help China overtake the US as the world’s largest beer market by 2017.

It is already the largest market in terms of volume, but disposable incomes coupled with the faster pace of growth to the country’s legal drinking age population over the US means that sales will continue to rise until at least 2018.

The Chinese also have a thirst for premium beers over cheaper brands, which is also pushing up value sales, highlighting the potential for growth in the premium beer segment which is still much smaller than in the US.

China’s biggest brands include Snow, the world’s biggest beer brand, followed by Tsingtao, Yanjing, Harbin and Laoshan.
