Red Bull might give you wings, but another drinks brand is offering to propel customers through the skies in a slightly more genteel fashion.
The 130-foot-long, 44-foot-tall “Flying Cucumber” is a response to the “rising mundanity of modern travel” and will travel at the “civilised” speed of 35mph.
Jim Ryan, Hendrick’s National Brand Ambassador, said: “We have been continually surprised by the odd popularity of our unusual cucumber-infused gin.
“Hendrick’s takes the oddity of life and celebrates it. We’re boldly sharing what’s unusual about us, and celebrating what’s peculiar about you.”
Draws will be held to determine who gets to fly in the airship. People can enter by taking a photo of the ship or of an unusual place and posting it to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtags #CUCUMBERCHALLENGE and #HENDRICKSGIN.
Starting in Los Angeles, the Flying Cucumber will visit 12 more cities across the country.
The blimp is to conclude its trip in Chicago at the beginning of August.
