A “revolutionary” wine brand owned by hip hop singer Nicki Minaj is to go on sale in the UK next month.
Myx Fusions Muscato, which will first be rolled out in Northern Ireland from February, is a ready-to-drink beverage made from a blend of sweet Muscato wine, flavourings and fruit juice.
Minaj is the co-owner and face of the brand, with Myx making its first appearance in her music video “High School“. The 5.5% drink will be available in original Muscato or peach.
When the drink launched in the US last summer Minaj said: “I have no doubt that it will be number one. it is a great tasting, amazing product that people will love. It’s not even a hard sell. Myx Fusions gives us an opportunity to revolutionize the wine industry.”
Muscato is now the second biggest white wine grape variety in the US, after Chardonnay.
Minaj is by no means the first celebrity to own her own wine brand. Actress Kate Hudson and her fiancé Muse frontman Matt Bellamy have been producing their own wines since 2011. Meanwhile actor Gerard Depardieu has owned vineyards since 1979.
