Ah the 1980’s, bad hair, bad clothes and amazing music. Fortunately for us there were also the amazing drinks and specifically cocktails, nothing said ‘sophisticated yuppie’ like propping up the bar of a city nightclub with a Long Island Iced Tea and a Filofax. It’s hard to pin down exactly where and when a cocktail originated but mention 1980’s drinks and these are the ones that spring to mind. If you’re having a 1980’s party and need a cocktail list don’t forget the Umbrellas or Maraschino cherries….. the essential ingredients are lots of ice and a highball glass.
In a cocktail mixer, combine Gordon’s Sloe Gin, Southern Comfort, Disaronno Amaretto and Orange Juice. Shake vigorously and strain into 2 glasses with ice.
Put into a Highball glass with ice, serve with a slice of pineapple.
50ml Jose Cuervo Tequila
250ml Fresh Orange Juice
25ml Grenadine Syrup
Add the Tequila to a highball glass filled with crushed ice and top up with fresh orange juice. Add the grenadine down the side of the glass so that it sinks to the bottom.
Mix ingredients into a highball glass over ice, stir, garnish and serve.
50ml Stolichnaya Vodka
75ml Fresh Orange Juice
75ml Cranberry Juice
Pour into Highball glass, add crushed Ice and serve
