Top 5: Songs about drinks

The summer is nearly here and there is nothing to get you in the mood for a tipple like hearing the catchy song lyrics to these numbers. Here are Bring a Bottle’s top five songs about drinks that get us in the mood.

Rupert Holmes, “Escape, Pina Colada Song”

This catchy 70s tune screams summer, and just on the right side of cheesy as well.

UB40, “Red Red Wine”

UB40’s reggae version of Neil Diamond’s hit reached out to so many hearts and wine lovers that it secured a number one spot in the UK and the US for weeks back in the eighties. It’s still a hit today for a night in with a bottle of Pinot Noir though.

The Gourds, “Gin & Juice”

The Gourds weren’t the first ones to come up with this drink and music combo. Snoop Dogg was the first to release this in 1995 on his Snoop Doggy Dogg. Although a classic hit, The Gourds add an extra flare to the track.

 Wynonie Harris, “Quiet Whiskey”

Taken from the aptly named album Bloodshot Eyes, Wynonie Harris’ song written by the late Henry Glover speaks to whiskey lovers in their own language.

The Champs, “Tequila”

This 50s Latin rock and roll ballad still rings true today on a Friday night as the slammers come out.
