Try out an on-trend meat cocktail

By Lia Sanders on 23/03/15 11:00 AM

Last week a London restaurant announced that a cocktail made with beef would be on its new drinks menu.

Available at Sushisamba in the Heron Tower, the Kobe cocktail costs £28 and is a twist on an Old Fashioned which uses a wash of the pricey kobe beef (“the caviar of meat”).

If your budget doesn’t stretch that far and you want to try the trend for savoury, meat-based cocktails at home, look no further than one of these recipes.

Bring Home the Bacon

Ingredients (makes one cocktail)

2 oz tomato vodka (Crop Harvest Earth recommended)
1 oz tomato juice
A sprinkle of beef bouillon granules
Dash of Worcestershire sauce

Shake vigorously and serve in a chilled cocktail glass. Sprinkle with ground black pepper and optional bacon powder.

Meat and Potato Martini

Ingredients (makes one cocktail)

2 oz vodka
2 or 3 drops of Worcestershire sauce
2 or 3 drops of Peychaud bitters
2 or 3 drops of Mezcal

Combine with ice in shaker, shake vigorously and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with bacon that has been dredged in panko and deep fried.
