A French hospital is going to open a wine bar within hospital facilities to allow terminally ill patients to enjoy a glass during their final days.
The Clermont-Ferrand hospital in central France will soon be offering “medically supervised wine tasting sessions” to ill patients, where they will also be able to invite friends and family.
The idea has been approved and supported by authorities and patients, and will begin in September in the hospital’s Palliative Care Centre. The bar plans to stock a range of wines, Champagne and whisky, and will be accepting donations from locals. If successful, this idea could take off in other areas of France, and maybe even the UK.
