Winter warmers with Rekorderlig cider

Visitors to the Southbank’s Winter Festival in London can warm up with a visit to the fire pit in Rekorderlig’s Cider Lodge where traditional Swedish food is served along with their signature drinks.

Top of the menu is Winter Cider, infused with cinnamon and vanilla, and served either cold over ice or warm with an orange slice.

If you cannot make it to the pop-up Scandinavian bar, though, here are two cider-based recipes guaranteed to keep you warm during the long winter nights.

Rekordernogg
Ingredients
200ml-250ml Rekorderlig Winter Cider
1/2 egg
30ml dark rum
20ml Pedro Ximenez sweet sherry
10ml sugar syrup
3 dashes Angostura bitters
Method
Mix all the ingredients together in a pan and whisk the egg into them. Heat the pan on a stove, stirring gently. Pour into a tankard and serve with a candy cane and star anise.

Rekorderlig Hot Toddy

Ingredients
25ml spiced rum
1tbsp honey
1/4 lemon, squeezed
1 cinnamon stick
1 dash Angostura Bitters
220ml hot Rekorderlig Winter Cider
Method
Mix the rum, honey, bitters and lemon together. Add the cider and stir. Serve with a cinnamon stick and an orange wheel.

The Lodge closes on 4 January.
