Gin is officially the hip spirit of choice. New distilleries and bars are popping up all over the country every week. World Gin Day, coming this way on Saturday June 14, was created especially to celebrate this new wave of gin consumption, and is now in its sixth year.
It does pretty much what it says on the bottle: a celebration of all things gin. Either way, it’s a legitimate excuse to learn how to mix cocktails and learn about all the gin-tastic products that are popping up all over the market.
Founded by Neil Houston, the brains behind 2009’s YetAnotherGin, what initially began as a day for him and his friends to enjoy lashings of gin has escalated into a global celebration.
There will be a whole host of events going on, along with other parties and competitions, all easing us into the juniper spirit, be it with tonic, a Martini, Sling or Fizz.
You can find out about gin events near you on the official website, as well as by following the Facebook, Twitter (look out for the #WorldGinDay hashtag) and Instagram pages to keep up to date with the latest news and events.
