"The Fergus" is named after our neighbour, Fergus Mahon, who kindly sold us his Grenache grapes in 1993 during a desperate shortage of Shiraz and Cabernet. We quickly realised the potential of this full bodied, but soft style of wine. This vintage consists of Grenache, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot principally from the vineyards of the Mahon, Jenner and Kelly families. Fermentation on skins for seven days preceded pressing and then oak maturation for nine months. The wine has strong varietal character, aromatic and spicy, with mouthfilling flavour and fine tannins and is suited to medium term cellaring.
